Green Voice of Great Britain Launched by Melanie Sykes

newsTelevision presenter Melanie Sykes has recently become a spokesman for environmental issues, launching a new competition ‘Green Voice of Great Britain’.

This new campaign seeks to find one person who can be used to represent ordinary people when it comes to the important issues on going green.

The new campaign is being supported by the Energy Saving Trust. The individual who wins the competition will be invited to the Houses of Parliament on 21 October, right in the middle of Energy Saving Week, and they will become the representative of the masses when it comes to saving energy in our homes.

Melanie Sykes said of the campaign that it is important to realise that householders can do their bit to reduce carbon emissions in the UK, as they are responsible for almost half of all emissions.

She also added “We’re looking for people who care about the environment, want to get involved and have their say.”

Reports have also shown that almost all homes can benefit from cheap gas and electricity bills if they take the time to improve installation and install energy efficient double glazing in windows and doors. Such changes can help households to save around £300 every year.

The winner of the green voice competition will hold their position for a year, and Sykes maintains that you don’t have to be an avid environmentalist already living in a green home to enter. You just need to have a desire to make your voice heard.
