Greener Home or Higher Bills says Government
New proposals put forward by the Government today outline plans to charge higher rates of council tax for homes that are not doing all they can to be green.
Ministers are to consider if “punishments” should be in place for homeowners that do not have double glazing and appropriate insulation. And these proposals are to be welcomed by Climate Change Secretary Ed Miliband, who will announce the final plans this Autumn.
UK Green Council representative John Adams came up with the new plans and advised that householders who refused to take part could face higher council tax bills and when they sell, the threat of higher stamp duty which may put off prospective buyers.
