Horsham Homes Being Given Energy Efficient Help
Horsham District Council is attempting to improve the energy efficiency of the region by launching a scheme with the Energy Saving Partnership to provide insulation for homeowners at a discounted price.
During the first two weeks of March, homes across the area were given thermal imaging surveys using HeatSeekers vehicles to detect where the areas of greatest energy waste were.
The images are now being used by the council as a way of focusing on the homes that could benefit the most from increased insulation.
Homeowners across the region will start to receive visits from HeatSeekers surveyors and will be shown the thermal image of their home. They will then discuss the insulation options that could help reduce energy wastage, and be offered discounts.
Households on low incomes will be able to receive free insulation in certain circumstances. On top of this, HeatSeekers claim that the measures could help to save up to £265 each year on their energy bills, by reducing the amount of heat that is lost.
Double glazing alone, which prevents as much heat being lost through the windows, could save up to £135 on annual heating bills according to the Energy Saving Trust. When combined with measures such as insulation in lofts and walls, and boiler upgrades, these measures can make a huge difference to carbon emissions.
HeatSeekers works with the Energy Saving Partnership and local authorities to assess how energy efficient properties are across the UK.
