The History of the Edwardian Conservatory
Edwardian conservatories are characterised by the style of the era after the reign of Queen Victoria. Despite the relatively short reign of Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, the style of architecture from this era (and up to as late as 1918) still lives on in a variety of conservatories found throughout the UK.
The First World War put a hold on the popularity of conservatories in the UK, where they may have been expensive to heat without the right materials for good insulation, full of draughts and cold during winter.
However, today the style has become more popular once more, with the quality materials and technology to make them much more practical. Victorian conservatory designs are also popular, but if you are interested in the evolution of the style, alongside lighter colours, balanced proportions and simpler designs, then get in touch to talk about how an Edwardian conservatory could suit your home.
Our Edwardian Conservatory Designs
Edwardian architecture is often characterised by:
- Gables,
- Brickwork,
- Square or rectangular design,
- Maximum floor space,
- And Plain exteriors.
The beauty of the Edwardian design means that they will suit all houses and bungalows. Roof styles can easily be adapted where height is restricted.
Adding an Edwardian conservatory to your home is a huge improvement, and can add on value as well as extra living space. This is why we make sure to use the same quality materials, 70mm Veka profiles with Pilkington glass, as we use for all of our windows – not to mention the same experienced joiners to ensure the very best job possible, with less disruption to your home.
Our Edwardian conservatories are a great choice for anyone looking for a timeless design to add quality and value to their home.
