Secured by Design

Secured by Design is a crime prevention project operated by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). The Secured by Design scheme focuses on the design and security of home improvement products, including windows and doors. By using the Veka profile in all our installations, Central Scotland Joinery’s windows and doors are automatically certified as Secured by Design.

The General Manager for the Association of Chief Police Officers has stated that “Using Secured by Design accredited products, which have been certified to security standards identified by ACPO, also helps increase the life-span of a building. It allows residents to feel safer and improves the security of a premises while reducing unnecessary maintenance work which is often required to repair the damage caused by criminal attacks.”

• BS 7950: 1997 Specification for enhanced security performance of casement and tilt/turn windows for domestic applications.
• BS PAS 23-1: 1999 General performance requirements for door assemblies - Part 1: Part 1: Single leaf, external door assemblies to dwellings.
• BS PAS 24-1: 1999 Enhanced security performance requirements for door assemblies - Part 1: Single leaf, external door assemblies to dwellings.
